Multi-Day Winter Photography Tours

The winter months bring a sense of solitude to the parks and it is a wonderful time to visit. Multiple day tours I’ve conducted in the past have featured a day in the Tetons and then continuing on to Yellowstone. Snowcoach travel is the only mode of winter transportation available to access the Geyser Basins and Canyon areas of the park, and these day trips can be arranged with lodging at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge. The Lamar Valley in Yellowstone is one of the best areas in the Lower 48 to observe wolves, and I highly recommend at least two days spent here.

Itinerary

Day 1 is spent in the Tetons, capturing the sunrise as it illuminates the mountains and then travelling to other scenic locations while searching for wildlife. Day 2 may include another sunrise session before travelling to West Yellowstone. Day 3 is typically a roundtrip Snowcoach tour to Old Faithful, with ample opportunities to photograph wildlife and scenics along the way. Day 4 is a travel day to the Mammoth/Gardiner/Cooke City area, which will be the base for the remainder of the tour. From here we can easily access the Lamar Valley, searching for wolves and photographing the Coyotes, Bighorn Sheep, Bison and Moose that winter here.

All Multi-day Winter tours are customizable to your schedule and requests, however it is necessary to plan early. Lodging and Snowcoach reservations do tend to fill quickly for the winter season.
